When playing Mario Kart, I press the direction of the curve and drift at the same time, keep holding drift, and in order to adjust my angle, I alternate between holding the turning direction and countersteering. The game can be very unintuitive coming from other kart racers such as Mario Kart. One thing that might help is to minimize your number of inputs. However, Nexon has a history of terrible P2W practices, so if this game fails to be financially successful with its current model, I wouldn't be surprised if they switch over, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. The premium content is going to be exclusively cosmetic. In between the closed beta and the launch, they equalized the stats of all of the karts, and they've repeatedly stated in QnA's that you cannot upgrade the performance of karts using premium currency, only Lucci. The director has also stated that this is their intent indefinitely. All karts have the same base stats, and the stats can be upgraded using the free currency, Lucci. However, the Devs have stated that there will be no P2W in this game. There were also gatcha style events for the meta karts with some luck involved to spend the least amount of money. There isn't really a precedent since Drift is not following the model of its predecessors: the the OG Kartrider and the mobile sequel KartRider Rush+ were both extremely P2W, where the best karts required to premium currency to rent or purchase karts with clear stat advantages over what you could get using free currency.
